Importance of Resistance Training
The importance of weight training is the same as the importance of any form of exercise. Its purpose is to help physically development or improve our bodies to our liking so that we may live a better quality life.
Although it can be hard to continue for new comers of the life style, those that keep pursuing the end goal will reap the benefits of their devotion to the better life. Depending on whom you are and what your goal is, it can be easier or harder than others.
Typically males want to gain muscle mass while females want to achieve the slim figure and both are possible.
Not only does it help our general health, it also greatly improves performance in sports. There are other benefits that a lot of people may not know about such as:
-Slows bone loss that accompanies aging and increases bone density.
-Maintains or increases joint flexibility.
-Helps to or aids in reducing pain from ailments such as arthritis.
-Helps improve variables such as glucose metabolism, blood
pressure, body composition and insulin sensitivity.
Obviously there is no specific muscle that must be focused on. It's completely up to you.
However it is strongly recommended that you focus equally on all major muscle
groups instead of completely on a certain one. This is typically seen in mainly
males, when the upper body is focused and no attention is given to the lower
body. This is commonly called "chicken leg syndrome" because the upper body is
disproportionate to the lower body.
